I have now been taking Concerta XL 18mg for one week!
I can say that my brain has been quiet, I have been more active this week by getting out of the house each day I have been off work, and I’m able to follow conversation without interrupting.
I haven’t had a chance to chase down the doom piles or abandoned housework yet… So it’s still abandoned! I even tried to read a book yet to see if I can actually absorb what I’m reading without going over the same paragraph multiple times… And I can!!
I have cut down on vaping and am making plans to quit, I’ve decreased my caffeine intake, and I have taken to writing my Dungeons and Dragons campaign again and planning the first session after a year in the making.
I have been asked: now that I’m on medication, will I learn to drive? This is something to which I have given some consideration, and I think that once my titration hits a dose that agrees with me most and I am settled on that dose, then I will think about taking lessons and hopefully learn to drive!
In regards to side effects, I was told that I may experience dry mouth, and I have! But at least I’m more hydrated than I was before I was on medication! I am currently waking more through the night since taking the tablets, but I’m hoping this settles down eventually. My body now tells me when I’m hungry, which is a very strange notion after twenty eight years – I used to go days without eating much and I wouldn’t be affected at all, now I actually feel stomach ache and nausea if I don’t eat!
I haven’t yet noticed any changes to mood or emotional regulation (I don’t think), I feel pretty much the same so far. Though some people have noted that I seem happier and “more with it”. I do feel that I have more confidence in myself and what I wear or how I present myself which feels nice.
Next week, I will be increasing to 27mg tablets so I will see how they affect me in comparison to the current 18mg tablets.
